Mechanisms underlying urticaria

Urticaria, a clinically distressing disorder, is dermal oedema resulting fr om vascular dilatation and leakage of fluid into surrounding tissue, often in response to histamine (and other mediators) released from mast cells. A clear history of events surrounding the onset, together with laboratory inv estigations, in some cases allows us ta find a cause and eliminate it.
