Abstract
A multiwavelength RZ optical source with equal amplitudes and pulsewidths i s successfully obtained by using wavelength conversion in a nonlinear optic al loop mirror consisting of a common dispersion shifted fiber, The convert ed wavelengths of the eight signal pulses are in agreement with the ITU-T p roposal and a commercial arrayed-waveguide grating is used for demultiplexi ng in the frequency-domain. By using the new source 8 x 40 Gb/s WDM transmi ssion over 55 km conventional fiber was realized.
