Abstract
A new supramolecular adduct {[W3S4(H2O)(8)Cl][(PyH subset of C36H36N24O12)] }Cl-4 . 15.5H(2)O (1 . 15.5H(2)O) was obtained when pyridine was added to t he reaction mixture of cucurbituril and [W3S4(H2O)(9)](4+) in 3 M HCl. X-ra y crystal structure analysis of 1 . 15.5H(2)O revealed layered motive of th e structure with two different types of cucurbituril molecules. A PyH+ mole cule is encapsulated in the cavity of each of the cucurbituril molecule. Un der vacuum it loses 13.5 H2O molecules and gives {[W3S4(H2O)(8)Cl][(PyH sub set of C36H36N24O12)]}Cl-4 . 2H(2)O (1 . 2H(2)O). (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
