Abstract
This paper provides an analysis of the performance of power system sta bilizers (PSS) under different system conditions and operating loads. Two techniques for the tuning of PSS parameters are presented, one bas ed on the integral of Squared Error (ISE) criterion while the other is based on the Phase Compensation criterion. The paper looks into how P SS tuning and the associated dynamic performances of the system are af fected by excitation systems, transient gain reduction (TGR) of the au tomatic voltage regulator (AVR) or series compensation of the transmis sion system. Variations in operating parameters including simulation f or large disturbances have been carried our to examine the robustness of optimum PSS. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
