Cs. Indulkar, SELF-EXCITED OSCILLATIONS IN SERIES AND SHUNT COMPENSATION SCHEMES OFAC TRANSMISSION-SYSTEMS, INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ELECTRICAL POWER AND ENERGY SYSTEMS, 19(7), 1997, pp. 481-488
A new mathematical model is presented for analysis of self-excited osc
illations in a synchronous machine connected to a long EHV transmissio
n line with different configurations of series and shunt compensation.
The model has been developed in terms of line constants of long lines
which includes the effect of line shunt susceptance and reactance of
line end transformers. The model has been used to directly analyse sel
f-excited oscillations in a transmission system for five types of comp
ensation scheme. The stability limit curves in the R-X-c parametric pl
ane for the five compensation schemes have been compared with that for
a series compensated transmission line. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd
