Abstract
We present here the project for a new experiment with cold atoms. The purpo se is to measure the recoil of an atom that absorbs or emits photons. From this measurement, one can deduce the ratio h/M-A between the Planck constan t and the mass of the atom. The ratio h/M-A may be used to determine the fi ne structure constant alpha. It could also be the first step towards a new microscopic mass unit.
