Y. Chen et al., INVESTIGATION OF THE POTENTIAL USE OF ESR SIGNALS IN QUARTZ FOR PALEOTHERMOMETRY, Quaternary science reviews, 16(3-5), 1997, pp. 495-499
In order to investigate the possible use of ESR signals for palaeother
mometry, samples from three petroleum exploration drill holes in Easte
rn China were studied. We found that the ratio of the intensities of t
he natural E' signal (I-1) over the signal after heating at 250 degree
s C for 60 min (I-2) is higher for the deeper samples, generally expos
ed to higher temperatures than those of the shallower samples. This be
haviour can be used for establishing the contemporary storage temperat
ures at least up to 100 degrees C. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
