Hj. Park et al., Nodular hidradenocarcinoma with prominent squamous differentiation: case report and immunohistochemical study, J CUT PATH, 27(8), 2000, pp. 423-427
We report the case of a 24-year-old woman with nodular hidradenocarcinoma o
n the scalp, While histopathology of the tumor showed a circumscribed, lobu
lated intradermal mass with prominent squamous differentiation, the immunoh
istochemical study with antibodies to cytokeratins, CAM 5.2 and 19, epithel
ial membrane antigen, carcinoembryonic antigen, S-100 protein and p53 all d
emonstrated positivity. These findings confirmed that the tumor was of eccr
ine sweat gland origin and it was thought to be a nodular hidradenocarcinom
a differentiating toward the eccrine duct and/or secretory portions. She wa
s treated with a wide local excision and no recurrence was observed 18 mont
hs after excision.
