Abstract
A series of water soluble viologen linked zinc porphyrins (ZnP(CnV)(4) ,n = 3-6) were synthesized. Four viologens are connected with the zinc porphyrin via a methylene chain (-(CH2)(n)-: n = 3-6) in these compou nds. The photochemical and electrochemical properties of ZnP(CnV)(4) w ere measured and the quenching process of the photoexcited porphyrin b y the binding viologen was discussed.
