Abstract
Fieldwork is a distinctive feature of geography in higher education and is therefore a subject that is likely to be scrutinised by an emerging interna tional network. Originating from an Internet discussion, the paper consider s the context of internationalism Sor the enhancement of fieldwork practice s. These broadly comprise opportunities re? debate and discuss pedagogic is sues about fieldwork in an international forum and to facilitate more effec tive international fieldwork opportunities and exchange. In examining speci fic issues affecting internationalisation, attention is drawn to the freque ntly implicit assumptions about the value of fieldwork and the need to fost er research on the delivery of fieldwork objectives.
