Abstract
One-bond and long-range two-dimensional H-1 and C-13 NMR experiments and de uterium-induced C-13 isotope shifts (n)Delta C(ND) allow the unequivocal as signment of C-13 and H-1 spectra. On this basis, previous assignments of bi ologically active nifedipine, nicardipine and related compounds have been r evised. The nicardipine chloride salt shows at room temperature two diaster eoisomeric configurations due to the asymmetry of substitution at the restr icted inverting nitrogen on the NMR time-scale.
