The authors examined the effect of MYCO-AD containing hydrated sodium calci
um aluminium silicate (Delacon Biotechnik Ges, m. b. H.) on T-2 toxicosis i
n broiler chickens by experimental feeding. Testing chickens were divided i
nto 3 groups, 25 birds each.
Group I. (control group) got toxin-free feed, group II. got feed containing
1 mg/feed kg T-2 toxin, group III. got feed containing 1 mg/feed kg T-2 to
xin and 2.5 kg/feed ton (=2.5 g/feed kg) MYCO-AD too from the day of hatchi
ng until the 40th day. T-2 toxin was produced by fungus Fusarium sporotrich
oides on rice substratum.
At the end of the trial in the group IZ, the feed intake was 21% behind and
the body mass was 23% behind the control group, respectively, In the case
of 80-90% of animals on the mucosa of the mouth and on the corner of the bi
ll necrotic sediments were stated. In the Bursa Fabricii and the thymus a d
ecrease of diameter of follicles and lobes, and a reduced amount of lymphoc
ytes were determined. No animal dropped out. At the end of the trial, in on
e third of the animals killed in the hypodermic interstitial tissue oedemat
ous infiltration, in the abdominal cavity accumulation of a straw-yellow Li
quid were observed
The effect of T-2 toxin was almost completely prevented by feeding MYCO-AD.
Feed-intake, gain in weight and feed conversion of group m. were equal wit
h those of the control group, and some values were even more favourable in
group m. than in the control group, In about 15-30% of animals lesions of m
outh were stated in a moderate way, but it did not affect the development o
f animals. There were no histopathological changes in the internal organs.
On the basis of the evaluation of results of the trial it can be establishe
d that toxicosis caused by 1 mg T-2 toxin/feed kg in broiler chickens can b
e prevented by feeding 2.5 kg MYCO-AD/feed ton.
