Abstract
A conventional antenna array pattern design is based on the amplitude of th e radiation pattern, as the angular phase properties of the radiation patte rn are generally not considered interesting. This paper discusses a differe nt kind of a design method, where the phase pattern has its significance ns a factor behind the multiplicity of the amplitude pattern. The design meth od can be used in the planning process of base-station antenna arrays for m obile communications. (C) 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
