Abstract
We present a case of an African-American child with vitamin D-deficient ric kets. In addition to being solely breast-fed for the period of 1 year, he r esided in New England, where exposure to ultra-violet light is limited owin g to its northern latitude and long cold winters. He presented with classic al signs of nutritional rickets and was immediately responsive to treatment with vitamin D supplementation.
