This review article addresses first the different palliative care models cu
rrently in use. Studies addressing the effectiveness of the models used are
briefly summarized. Special attention is further given to models developed
and tested in palliative: care in children. Finally, the problems and pitf
alls encountered in evaluating palliative care services are highlighted and
recommendations are made where further research is still warranted. (C) 20
