Abstract
Venous aneurysms ore rare and con cause pulmonary embolism. We report one c ase with popliteal vein aneurysm as a source of pulmonary embolism in a 53- year-old women. The aneurysm was diagnosed by phlebography and color duplex ultrasound. We performed surgical treatment by aneurysm resection and thro mbectomy. Postoperatively the patient showed peroneal nerve paralysis and d eveloped big haematoma in the leg with need for surgical correction. Venous aneurysms with a history of thrombembolic complications will be a strict i ndication for operative therapy. Surgical management of popliteal venous an eurysm may lead to complications.
