Me. Foord et al., Ionization processes and charge-state distribution in a highly ionized high-Z laser-produced plasma, PHYS REV L, 85(5), 2000, pp. 992-995
The charge-state distribution in a well-characterized highly ionized An pla
sma was accurately determined using time-resolved x-ray spectroscopy. Simul
taneous measurements of the electron temperature and density allow the firs
t direct comparisons with nonlocal thermodynamic equilibrium model predicti
ons for the charge-state distribution of a highly ionized high-Z plasma in
a nonradiative: environment. The importance of two-electron atomic processe
s is clearly demonstrated.
