Abstract
A new class of solutions is obtained in the Bergmann-Nordtvedt-Wagoner scal ar-tensor theory of gravity. An examination of this class reveals that the only black hole solution admitting a nontrivial scaler field in the exterio r is the Bekenstein solution. (C) 2000 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
