The effects of thermal history on the tensile crazing of polyphenylquinoxal
ine (PPQ-E) films were studied. Crazing of PPQ-E films during stretching wa
s in situ observed by SEM. Critical strain for craze initiation and craze s
tability depended on thermal history of the samples. The DSC endothermic pe
ak at the glass transition region of the samples with different pre-heating
conditions was interpreted in terms of the cohesional entanglement theory.
