Abstract
This paper highlights the importance of increased community involvement in local government and how it will be an integral part of best value. The pap er is based on the experiences of the Transportation and Estates Department of Cornwall County Council, The paper describes the important role that en gineers can play in increased community involvement which, if successful, w ill earn engineers higher respect from the public.
