An exact solution is obtained for the problem of the radiation of soun
d from a semi-infinite duct, one plate of which is hard and the other
soft. The solution of the problem results in a matrix Wiener-Hopf prob
lem, which is solved by carrying out an exact matrix factorization. So
me numerical results are given for the reflection coefficient, when th
e lowest mode propagates. The problem can be considered as a first app
roximation to an acoustically lined duct.
