The photoluminescence of InP quantum wires embedded in the dielectric templ
ate has been studied by site-selective pump-probe spectroscopy. The enhance
ment of the emission in the spectral window around the pump frequency and t
he long-lasting memory of pumping have been observed and explained on the b
asis of changes in energy states of template defects under intensive pumpin
g. The effect of wire-template interface upon the appearance of the photolu
minescence spectrum is discussed. (C) 2000 Academic Press.
