Introduction: A pneumoscrotum is an uncommon event and could be caused by a
clinically relevant or clinically nonrelevant pathomechanisms. Decisive is
the evaluation of its cause. A special therapy after removal is not necess
ary.
Case Report: We report on a 29-year-old patient with pneumoscrotum, which w
as diagnosed after transrectal biopsy of the intestinal tract after the thi
rd renal transplantation.
Conclusions: The distinctiveness of this phenomenon lies, on the one hand,
in the description of a clinically impressive event seen rarely in urologic
practice. On the other hand, the pneumoscrotum was a very important sign f
or the diagnostic and operative proceeding. The differential diagnose possi
bilities of the origin of pneumoscrotum as well as the pathomechanism will
be discussed.
