Parenting among mothers with a serious mental illness

In the past few decades, deinstitutionalization and community-based rehabil itation and support programs have increased the likelihood that women with serious mental disorders will be parents and will raise their children. Thi s review describes what is known about the parenting of these women, focusi ng on diagnosis, child characteristics, and ther contextual effects.
