A "multimodel" for gas-solid reactions in a reacting particle has been appl
ied to a bubbling fluidized bed reactor. The particle is tracked and bed an
d particle variables are determined continuously. The conservation equation
s of mass and heat with auxiliary relations are solved in an accelerating p
article, which may rise or fall. The effects of bulk pressure, velocity and
temperature, and particle diameter are studied. Heat and mass transfer coe
fficients may fluctuate up to 75% and 148% respectively. Doubling the press
ure changes h(c) by 75% and k(c) by -45%. Increase in pellet diameter reduc
es both h(c) and k(c).
