Pr. Parthasarathy, THE EFFECT OF SUPERINFECTION ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE INFECTIOUS PERIOD - A CONTINUED-FRACTION APPROXIMATION, IMA journal of mathematics applied in medicine and biology, 14(2), 1997, pp. 113-123
It has been shown that the density function of the duration of infecti
on in a superinfection malaria model can be approximated by a mixture
of exponential density functions. This is achieved by an application o
f continued fractions. Numerical calculations and graphs illustrate th
at this approach is effective.
