The eddy-current based approach has found a wide utility in conductometry,
as well as in testing of good conducting materials (sigma similar to 10(6)S
/m). Its main advantage is that it enables non-contact measurements to be t
aken. The paper deals with an eddy-current based transducer or testing of p
oor conducting materials, the electromagnetic parameters of which are appro
ximately equal to those of living tissues (mu = mu(0), sigma similar to 0.5
S/m, epsilon similar to 100 epsilon(0)).
