Field analysis has been computed for a four-speed induction motor which has
two separate double-layered windings, with each slot being occupied by coi
ls belonging to each winding. The working conditions of this motor differ f
rom standard motors, which makes accurate predictions of performance charac
teristics using a classical approach difficult. Both numerical and analytic
al analyses were used for the no-load and the short-circuit of the four-spe
ed motor. Calculated results were compared with the experimental data.
