Abstract
dThis paper presents an application of a recent methodology for the automat ic transfer of information among different decision making levels in the op eration of flexible manufacturing plants. The value that integration adds t o the performance of a hierarchical decision making structure is discussed. The main aspects of a single modelling approach to ease integration and a software prototype under current development are also analyzed. In particul ar, results from a recent extension of the proposal for deriving optimal op erating procedures in the event of a breakdown in batch plants are shown on a semiconductor fab case study.
