Establishing a proteomics platform in the industrial setting initially requ
ired implementation of a series of robotic systems to allow a high-throughp
ut approach to analysis and identification of differences observed on 2-D e
lectrophoresis gels. Now, a simpler alternative approach employing chromato
graphy-based systems is emerging for identification of many components of c
omplex mixtures, which can also provide quantitative comparisons through th
e use of a new labeling methodology.
