Infection with L. donovani down-regulates immunity and parasite clearance b y macrophages. Treatment with IL-2-stimulated-splenocytes activate parasiti cidal action in vitro in peritoneal macrophages of C57BL/6 (Lsh(s)) mice an d also was effective in stimulating infected macrophages to produce NO2-.
