Abstract
During the 1995/1996 academic year, the University of Colorado Boulder Libr aries received market equity for librarian salaries. However, the Universit y administration stipulated that equity increases were to be position speci fic rather than divided equally. Moreover, individual increases were to be based partly on past merit. This article describes how market equity was ju stified and applied.
