Abstract
The periselective [4 pi+2 pi] cycloaddition reactions of 3-ethoxy carb onyl-2H-cyclohepta[b]furan-2-one with different aralkenes is described . The exclusive formation of [4 pi+2 pi] adducts in these reactions ha s been rationalised by MNDO and AM1 calculations.
