Abstract
Unstable 3,5,7,9-octatetrayn-2-ol showed potent antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi. Its trimethylsilyl derivative, which poss essed much improved stability, showed comparable activity. It is due t o desilylation under neutral aqueous conditions.
