Abstract
A free-ranging lynx (Lynx lynx) was shot because of its abnormal behavior. Histopathological examination revealed a nonsuppurative meningoencephalitis . In situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, and reverse transcriptase PC R analysis showed the presence of Borna disease virus infection in the brai n. To our knowledge, this is the first confirmed case of Borna disease in a large felid.
