Abstract
A conceptual model of multiple dimensions of identity depicts a core sense of self or one's personal identity. Intersecting circles surrounding the ca re identity represent significant identity dimensions (e.g., race, sexual o rientation, and religion) and contextual influences (e.g., family backgroun d and life experiences). The model evolved from a grounded theory study of a group of 10 women college students ranging in age from 20-24 and of diver se racial-ethnic backgrounds.
