C. Erdol et al., Rupture of the right sinus of Valsalva into the right ventricle: Echocardiographic and angiographic imaging, J INVAS CAR, 12(8), 2000, pp. 435-438
We report a 16-year-old girl with acute rupture of the sinus of Valsalva, T
his case is unique in that the right coronary sinus of Valsalva ruptured in
to both the right and left ventricles, producing severe aortic insufficienc
y. The diagnosis was made with two-dimensional and color Doppler echocardio
graphy, which showed an abnormal jet flow from the aortic root into both ve
ntricles, The diagnosis was confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging and aor
tic root angiography, Early diagnosis is important so that urgent surgical
treatment can be taken.
