Abstract
New layered manganese oxychalcogenides with alternating Cu(2)Q(2) and perov skite oxide layers have been synthesized, where the perovskite oxide layers are (MnO2)(SrO)(SrO)(MnO2) and (MnO2)(SrO)(MnO1.5)(SrO)(MnO2) for Sr2CuMnO 3S and Sr(4)Cu(2)Mn(3)O(7.5)Q(2) (Q = S, Se), respectively. Jahn-Teller dis torsion due to Mn3+ is evident in both compounds. (C) 2000 Academic Press.
