Comparison of the analysis of fly ash samples

Combustion residues are still major components of atmospherically deposited pollutants. The total metal composition of fly ash samples collected at a municipal incinerator and a power plant was determined. Based upon the resu lts three different standard methods were compared to evaluate the amount o f leached metal compounds. Considerable differences were found among the th ree procedures, so a European protocol should be harmonised and used for th e different fly ash samples.
