Abstract
Asymptomatic arteriovenous fistulae and pseudoaneurysms are common after re nal biopsy. We present a patient with a single kidney and symptomatic pseud oaneurysm of the renal artery with concomitant arteriovenous fistula as a r are complication following surgical embolectomy, The patient developed rena l insufficiency because of a significant degree of vascular steal caused by the fistula. Dialysis was performed for more than 6 months until the fistu la was diagnosed, The fistula and the pseudoaneurysm were successfully trea ted by superselective arterial embolization with metallic coils, Renal func tion improved within the next 2 weeks and no further dialysis was necessary .
