This article provides a background review of the cognitive and behavioral s
ymptoms associated with chronic subdural hematoma (CSH). The areas addresse
d include the initial cognitive and behavioral symptom presentation, latera
lization and localizing signs, differences between older and younger patien
ts, and differential diagnosis. Although it is clear that behavioral and co
gnitive abnormalities are seen in CSH, further work is needed to objectivel
y clarify the range of symptoms and signs.
