The treatment of chronic subdural hematoma by craniotomy was the procedure
of choice in the early part of this century. It has since been replaced by
less invasive techniques but retains a Limited role in the management of th
is condition. A new procedure involving a small craniectomy and marsupializ
ation of the hematoma cavity to the temporalis muscle is described. The res
ults of this treatment compare favorably with the more commonly performed d
rainage methods.
