OIF standardization activities report

In June 1998, the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) was formed to promote the development and dissemination of interoperable products and services f or data exchange (mainly Internet Protocol (IP) but also Asynchronous Trans fer Mode (ATM)) and routing using optical networking technology. As of Febr uary 2000, the number of member companies exceeded 150. NTT has taken a mor e active role than at the time the OIF was established. This article is a s ummary of OIF activities and presents NTT's contributions.
