Phase equilibrium studies of the PbOx-CaO-CuO system were conducted fr
om the subsolidus at 770 degrees C to the melting of Ca2CuO3 at 1034 d
egrees C. No ternary oxide compounds were found. Twelve isothermal sec
tions and a liquidus diagram outlining the primary phase fields are pr
esented, At 770 degrees C, in the subsolidus, Ca2PbO4 was found to be
in equilibrium with Ca2CuO3, CaO, PbOx and CuO. The eutectic melting t
emperature is approximate to 780 degrees C, and the eutectic melting r
eaction is: PbO + Ca2PbO4 + CuO --> liquid. Two additional ternary mel
ting reactions were characterized. Above 1034 degrees C, the only soli
d compounds remaining are CaO and CuO. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
