The propagation of complex-argument Laguerre-Gaussian (L-G) beams passing t
hrough a paraxial optical ABCD system for both unapertured and apertured ca
ses has been studied in detail. The analytical propagation expressions for
unapertured case have been derived based on the generalized Huygens-Fresnel
diffraction integral, which enable us to calculate the field distribution
from one plane to another. For the apertured case numerical calculations ar
e still available. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the propagati
on properties of complex-argument L-G beams.
