A series of tests on simply-supported channel and Z-section purlins wi
th screw-fastened sheeting has been performed in a vacuum test rig. Th
e purpose of the tests was to provide accurate non-linear response dat
a for screw-fastened purlins under wind uplift loading. The lateral de
flections and stresses determined in these tests are compared with tho
se calculated by a non-linear elastic computer analysis. The purlin fa
