Domenico Morelli had a strong influence on Lombard painters even before his
well-known stay in Milan in 1861. As well as by the influence of Morelli's
proposals for the renewal of historical paintings in many artists' work, t
he importance of Morelli's presence in milan in 1855 and 1858 is witnessed
by papers (such as letters adn diaries) of painters such as Federico Faraff
ini and Eleuterio Pagliano. Anna Finocchi's article focuses on some of the
major issues emerging from the encounter between Morelli and other Lombard
artists.
