Abstract
In this paper we give explicit necessary and sufficient conditions for an infinite direct sum of modules with local endomorphism rings to be a CS-module. As consequences, we obtain new characterizations of Sigm a-CS modules and Sigma-CS rings which cover several earlier known resu lts on this topic. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
