The kinetics of phase separation in AgBr-NaBr has been investigated by
time-resolved neutron scattering techniques in powder samples as well
as single crystals. Spinodal decomposition observed in SANS experimen
ts is dominated by non-linear effects even in the earliest accessible
stages and dynamical scaling can be found. By the availability of sing
le crystals with concentrations up to 32 at% AgBr it was shown that ev
en these crystals can be demixed and mixed periodically without losing
their long-range order. The time development of Bragg peaks as well a
s the behaviour of some acoustic phonons during the decomposition proc
ess are studied by means of time-resolved triple axis spectroscopy.
