Abstract
The influence of the presence of hard, undeformable filler particles o n the microscopic deformation of network chains in cross-linked rubber under strain is addressed by small-angle scattering. SANS gives for t he first time a direct microscopic proof for a matrix overstrain in fi lled elastomers, whereas SAXS confirms an affine displacement of the f iller particle as a function of strain.
